INFORMATION
In 1991 the Township of Laird celebrated its centennial. In preparation for the event, council, in conjunction with the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (L.A.C.A.C.) and the Laird Centennial Celebration Committee published Laird Chronicles, a book describing Laird’s history. L.A.C.A.C.’s enthusiasm for history continued with the establishment of the Laird Historical Centre. Located on Highway 17 near Pumpkin Point Road, the Laird Historical Centre gives residents and visitors the opportunity to view how life existed during the development of this community. There are many historical treasures donated or loaned to the Centre from present and former residents or their descendants. From agricultural tools to dining sets to clothing and family diaries, this museum narrates Laird’s development from its first settlers to present.
