2026 Municipal Election: Unofficial Candidate List Now Available

The road to the 2026 Laird Township Municipal Election is officially underway! We are pleased to announce that the Unofficial List of Candidates has been posted.

As nominations continue to be filed, please note that this document is a work in progress. The list will be updated regularly throughout the nomination period to ensure residents have the most current information on who is running for office.

What You Need to Know for 2026

Laird Township will be electing one Head of Council (Mayor) and four Councillors to serve the community for the 2026–2030 term. Here are some key highlights and dates to keep on your radar:

  • Traditional Paper Ballots: The Township will continue to use in-person, paper ballot voting for this election.

  • Candidate Information Session: Thinking of running? Mark your calendar for June 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. A session will be held at Bruce Station Hall featuring representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to answer your questions.

  • Voter Registration: Ensure you are ready to cast your ballot by confirming or updating your information at RegisterToVoteON.ca.

  • Important Election Dates:

    • Nomination Deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

    • Advance Voting: Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    • Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
