Half-Load Restrictions Have Been Lifted

Please be advised that half-load restrictions have now been lifted across the Township. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping protect our roads during the thaw season.

Government Road Ditching Project

The Township of Laird will be completing ditching work along the west side of Government Road, from Knox Church to the Government Road Bridge, beginning June 8, 2026. Property owners with entrances along this section of Government Road are reminded that all entrances must have an approved culvert installed.

Laird Township Notice Of Retirement/Succession

Laird Township’s Clerk, Phyllis MacKay will be retiring, November 26, 2021. Jennifer Errington is promoted to the position of Clerk, Rhonda Crozier is now the Treasurer and Brenda Aelick is the Administrative Assistant. All persons in this succession plan are very experienced employees, understand municipal governance, and will be positive assets to the township.

Township Office Restrictions

The Laird Township office is closed to the public but those persons who need to come in, just ring the door bell and staff will admit, one person at a time. Masks required. Staff remain available by email, telephone and fax to assist you. In addition, the drop-box at the front of the municipal office is available to receive any correspondence (applications, payments, etc.). Information on services and contact details remain available online at lairdtownship.ca.

Share Shed Closed

Share Shed Closed

Due to the need to follow the advice of medical experts on avoiding non-essential contact during the ongoing concern over COVID-19, the share-shed at the waste disposal site will be closed to the public, until further notice. Your understanding of this matter, instituted for the safety of staff, is appreciated.

Freight Container Bylaw Meeting

A public meeting is scheduled for April 18, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal office regarding consideration of an amendment to the Township’s comprehensive zoning by-law with respect to Freight Containers (regulate the location, length and width).

Road Restrictions In Place

Posted: March 19, 2018

Load restrictions are now in place for Laird Township roads until further notice. Road signs have been placed.

Recycling Change Notification

The plastic buyer will NOT accept any FILM PLASTIC (No grocery bags, water bottle case plastic, etc.) and NO STYROFOAM of any description (NO meat trays or any packing material of any kind). Aseptic containers, waxy cardboard such as drink boxes and milk cartons (minus the straws), now go in with the paper.

Disposal Site Hours

Effective April 1, 2017 the site will be open year-round on:
Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Administrative Policy Regarding Request For Property Information

It shall be the policy of the Township of Laird to address requests for property information in the following manner:

  1. Ask requester for his/her information.
  2. Advise property owner that this person(s) is requesting information on his/her property.
  3. Request that property owner reply to requester with property information, if they so wish.
