Do Not Feed Cats or Other Animals at the Waste Disposal Site To all visitors and personnel: Feeding stray cats or other animals at the Waste Disposal Site is strictly prohibited. This policy is in place to: • ✅ Prevent the spread of disease • ✅ Avoid attracting more stray or wild animals • ✅ Maintain safety and cleanliness for all staff and visitors • ✅ Ensure proper wildlife and pest control measures While we understand the good intentions behind feeding animals, doing so can cause serious disruptions to the site’s operations and environmental management. Disposal Site Attendant
The disposal site attendant is on site during operating hours. The attendant is there to assist you, so please be kind and courteous. If you are unsure where items belong, please ask the attendant.
Hazardous Waste
Laird Township has an agreement with the City of Sault Ste. Marie to allow residents access to the Sault Ste. Marie Hazardous Waste Depot .
Important Notice: Propane Tanks Not Accepted
Propane tanks are not accepted at the Laird Township Waste Disposal Site or in the metal recycling bin. Old tanks can be dropped off free of charge at Pit Stop Gas Bar / JT Automotive in Echo Bay.
Household Garbage Disposal
There is no charge for disposal of household kitchen garbage. Other items such as construction materials, appliances, and furniture may require a tipping fee. All items must be placed in designated areas. Please ask the attendant if unsure.

Share Shed
The Share Shed is located within the disposal site and is open during operating hours. It allows residents to drop off and take gently used household items at no cost. Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Clothing and fabric items such as stuffed animals are not permitted. Please find alternative donation options for these materials.
Tipping Fees (Disposal Fees)
Tipping fees must be paid before depositing items at the disposal site. Payments may be made at the Municipal Office during regular hours or to the site attendant.
Residents may be asked to provide proof of residency to help track site usage.
