Council Meetings

Council Meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month. Agendas and changes in meeting times will be posted on the Township website lairdtownship.ca and in the Township office. Many other activities of council, including council minutes and by-laws, are shown on the website. If you would like to be put on the agenda, please have your request in writing to the Township office no later than the Friday before the week of the meeting.

Drop Box

With the installation of the new office door, we eliminated the old mail box style “drop box”. A new drop box slot has been installed in the sidelight, to the left of the door. This provides more security for any mail or documents that residents would like to leave during hours when the office is closed.

Emergency Management— Ham Radio

In natural or man-made disasters, Ham Radio enthusiasts put their hobby to work. Laird’s Emergency Management Committee is looking for someone with Ham Radio experience or someone interested in learning to use Ham Radio to sit on our committee. If you are interested you can visit www.aarclub.ca for more information and contact our EMC, Rhonda Crozier at (705) 248-2395.

Speed Limits and Dogs Running at Large

The Township office has received complaints about people speeding and concerns for the public safety of pedestrians walking and/or riding bikes on municipal roads.

Adding to the dangers we have also received many complaints of dogs running at large in these same areas, mainly Finns’ Bay Road and Neebish Road areas. It is against Municipal By-law 921-12 to allow Animals to run at large, and considerable fines could be assessed not to mention the danger to animals and humans alike.

Road safety is a priority, we all play a part in keeping our roads safe. Please abide by the speed limit, take caution when approaching pedestrians, and keep your pets safe by NOT allowing them to roam.
