Recreation Committee Minutes – June 22, 2021

MINUTES OF THE LAIRD RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP HALL ON TUESDAY, JUNE 22, 2021

MEMBERS PRESENT: Donna Bos Frank Turco Shawn Evoy Rhonda Crozier Brenda Aelick Suzanne Evoy Jo-Anne Entwistle

The meeting was called to order by Suzanne Evoy, Chairperson.

ON MOTION (No. R30-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Frank Turco “That the minutes of May 25, 2021 be adopted, as circulated.” CARRIED

Committee Reports:

1. 1. G. W. Evoy Rink

• rink boards have been demolished
• tender being prepared for rink base and brushing

1. 2. Laird Hall

• museum to move more things into the hall

1. 3. Bar River Hall

• immediate repairs being completed
• council to approve extra repairs
• road dept to install rock at river bank
• grant application to be completed

1. 4. Pumpkin Point Park

• ask Caretaker to repair the dock
• see about road dept removing trees from the shoreline
• staff is looking into warranty of the slide that is cracked

1. 5. Finns Bay Wharf

• railing is installed
• considering a privy

1. 6. Laird Fairgrounds

• plumbing repairs scheduled in
• rentals include Horse Events and Weddings
• layout of grounds was suggested to be three separate areas

ON MOTION (No. R31-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That recreation approves the accounts for May 2021 in the amount of $25,900.26.” CARRIED

Business Arising out of the Minutes:

The committee discussed the development of a Recreation Sub-Committee Policy.

Interviews were held for Summer Students to work at Summer Camps for recreation. Council has approved Micheal Bailey as Recreations summer student.

New Business:

The committee would consider a family baseball tournament for next year.

The committee would consider hosting a Fall BBQ is able. The secretary is to call a meeting for early Sept. is necessary.

Dog Training Classes at the Laird Fairgrounds are to start next week.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday Sept 28, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Laird Township Office.
