Police Services Board Minutes – March 30, 2023

MINUTES OF THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP POLICE SERVIES BOARD MEETING HELD MARCH 30, 2023, AT 10:00 AM IN THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP BOARDROOM CHAMBERS

Present: Chair: Shawn Evoy Member: Dan Crozier Provincial Representative: Vacant Ontario Provincial Police: S/Sgt. Laurie Graham Delegate: Tom Gervais, Police Services Advisor Secretary-Treasurer: Jennifer Errington

The Township Clerk Administrator, Jennifer Errington, called the meeting to order and called for a nomination and motion for a Chair and Vice Chair

ON MOTION (No. 01-23) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Dan Crozier that the Police Services Board appoints Shawn Evoy as chair and Dan Crozier as Vice Chair. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 02-23) of Dan Crozier, seconded by Shawn Evoy that the Police Services Board appoints Jennifer Errington as Secretary-Treasurer. CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. 03-23) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Dan Crozier that the Police Services Board approves the minutes of February 4, 2015, as presented. CARRIED

Delegations and Presentations

The Police Services Advisor, Tom Gervais, provided a training session to the Board. Commented on the break in the time since 2015, and with the training session provided today, the Board will now be active having regular meetings, with a minimum of 4 per year.

S/Sgt Graham of the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Detachment presented Calls For Service (CFS) report for January and February 2023, the Records Management System report for January and February 2023, and Integrated Court Offences Network report for January 2023.

S/Sgt Graham was asked questions about how to communicate public complaints/concerns regarding speeders etc. S/Sgt Graham will supply the Secretary-Treasurer with an online reporting link and phone number for residence to call.

S/Sgt Graham will be looking into setting us up a Focus Patrol for our area, currently one is set up in Prince Township.

The Police Services Board discussed a meeting schedule, the meetings will be June 5, 2023 at 9 a.m., August 14, 2023 at 9 a.m. and October 30, 2023 at 9 a.m.

S/Sgt Graham and Tom Gervais were thanked for their attendance, training, and reporting.

ON MOTION (No. 04-23) of Dan Crozier, seconded by Shawn Evoy that the police services board meeting be adjourned at 10:53 a.m.
