Nomination Period Opens: Friday, May 1, 2026.

Nomination Deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026.
Filing Details
To run for office, candidates must complete and file their nomination form with the Clerk before any campaign money is spent or raised.

Where to File: Laird Township Office, 3 Pumpkin Point Road, Echo Bay, ON P0S 1C0.

Filing Fee: $200.00 for Head of Council and $100.00 for all other offices.

Payment Methods: Payable by cash, certified cheque, or money order.
Candidate Qualifications
On the day you file your nomination, you must meet the following criteria:

You must be a Canadian citizen.

You must be at least 18 years of age.

You must reside in the local municipality, or be the owner or tenant of land in the local municipality, or the spouse of such a person.

You must not be disqualified by any legislation from holding office.
