Fire Protection
Fire services for Laird Township are provided by the Echo Bay Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire Permits
Fire permits are required for open-air burning from April 1st to October 31st. Permits are available at the Municipal Office at no charge.
Burning, with a permit, is permitted from two hours before sunset to two hours after sunrise, provided a fire ban is not in place. Fines for burning outside the regulations will be enforced.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Residents are reminded that carbon monoxide detectors are now mandatory.
Smoke Alarms – It’s the Law!
Residents are reminded that as of March 1, 2006, each level in a house must be equipped with a working smoke alarm. It is also mandatory that an alarm be placed outside of bedroom areas.
