MINUTES OF AGENDA NUMBER 55, OF THE COUNCIL OF THE

CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAIRD, HELD 0N SEPTEMBER 28,

2022, AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE AT 9:30 A.M.

Delegations and Presentations

1. a) Chris Jones, Official Plan Planner

• Prime Agricultural Lands consist of CLI class 1, 2, and 3
• Prime Agricultural Area consists of prime agricultural lands and lands that are CLI class 4 to 7.
• It is important to get the designation correct as once it is circulated for the One Window Consultation, Planning Board/Council will not be able to appeal the Provincial decision.
• Recommendation to have the Planning Board request OMAFRA to do a Peer Review of the draft prime agricultural designation.
• It is up to the Municipality to update the Zoning By-law to be in line with the Official Plan as soon as possible to avoid possible issues.

ON MOTION (No. 147-22) of Todd Rydall, seconded by Shawn Evoy that Council accepts the planners’ recommendations for Prime Agriculture Designation and CARRIED requests Municipal Clerk to notify the Planning Board.

ON MOTION (No. 148-22) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Todd Rydall that Council is in support of the Planning Board requesting OMAFRA to provide a peer review CARRIED of the draft prime agricultural designation.

ON MOTION (No. 149-22) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Todd Rydall that Council adopts By-law 1063-22 being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of the meeting CARRIED of Council held on September 28, 2022.

ON MOTION (No. 150-22) of Shawn Evoy, seconded by Todd Rydall that Council CARRIED meeting be adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
