MINUTES FINNS’ BAY WHARF COMMITTEE MEETING SEPTEMBER 25, 2024 AT 6:00 PM LOCATION: LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE

Present: Todd Rydall (Chair), Jo-Anne Entwistle (Recording Secretary), Brad Shewfelt, Lee Ranta, Karolina Dick, John Hooper. Guest Observer: Carol Ranta

1. CALL TO ORDER/REVIEW THE AGENDA

(ON MOTION # 15-24) Moved by John Hooper seconded by Brad Shewfelt “That the meeting be called to order by Todd Rydall, chairperson, and that the committee approves the Finns’ Bay Wharf Meeting Sub-committee Agenda of September 25, 2024” CARRIED

2. MINUTES OF January 24, 2024

(ON MOTION #16-24) Moved by Lee Ranta, seconded by John Hooper “That the committee approves the Finns’ Bay Wharf Sub-Committee minutes of July 3, 2024, as presented” CARRIED

4. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

1. 1) Wharf Meet and Greet-Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 1:00-4:00 PM -Very well attended (approximately 75 people). will need more hot dogs for next time appreciation was expressed to Carol Ranta and Trish McDonald for making signs and road crew for levelling gravel. Thank-you cards will be sent to road crew and Trish McDonald for their efforts.

(ON MOTION #17-24) Moved by Lee Ranta, seconded by Brad Shewfelt “That the Wharf Committee recommends to the Recreation Committee that they approach the Centennial Park Committee to consider hosting a biannual Meet and Greet on a date to be determined. The Wharf Committee offers to assist in the planning and implementation of a Meet and Greet at the Centennial Park.” CARRIED

1. 2) Meet and Greet input for property name and signage- (ON MOTION #18-24) Moved by Lee Ranta, seconded by Karolina Dick

“That Wharf Committee recommends that the Wharf property be called The Finns Bay Wharf. With entrance sigh reading Finns’ Bay Wharf. Historically known as the

Lake George Buoy Station.”

1. 3) Parking Lot Improvements-gravel levelled, more gravel is needed
2. 4) Reclaimed red channel marker- (ON MOTION #19-24) Moved by John Hooper, seconded by Karolina Dick “That the buoy be placed by the new sign at the entrance to the property.” CARRIED

5. NEW BUSINESS

1. 1) Annual Review of the Five Year Plan and revisit possibility of putting power into the property

Five Year Plan for the Finns’ Bay Wharf-Developed September 25, 2024 commencing the year of 2025.

Year 1 (2025): Second outhouse, four tandem loads of gravel, brushing of upper level, install a life ring.

Year 2 (2026): Biannual Meet and Greet, bicycle racks

Year 3(2027): 16 ft.x16ft. deck with benches on three sides

Year 4(2028):Biannual Meet and Greet, Concrete Pad and 24 ft.x36ft. gazebo

Year 5(2029): Investigate building a combined building for an Accessible/Family Washroom with change table and Change Room.

(ON MOTION #20-24) Moved by John Hooper, Seconded by Karolina Dick “That the Wharf Committee Five Year Plan be accepted as presented commencing with Year one in 2025..” CARRIED

1. 1) It was shared with the Wharf Committee that there are openings on the Main Recreation Committee. Anyone interested should contact the Township Office.
