Should a New Name and/or New School Mascot and Colours be considered as the Echo Bay and Laird Central Schools come together as one School Community?
Students from Laird Central will be joining Echo Bay Central in September 2013 and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We are also pleased that with the consolidation of the two communities, comes the opportunity to upgrade and expand sections of Echo Bay Central Public School.
One of the questions that was raised through the ARC process andone of the recommendations made from the Laird ARC’s final report, is whether a new name and/or school identity could be considered for Echo Bay Central Public School.
A Joint School Council meeting was held with Laird Central and Echo Bay Central School Councils. Both councils agreed to set up an Ad Hoc Committee to pursue with the communities whether a new name should be considered with the consolidation. This committee will follow the process of the ADSB Policy6.56NamingofSchools http://www.adsb.on.ca/uploads/info/listings/6.56.NamingofSchools.pdf and will advise the Board and respective school communities of the process and the outcome. The Ad Hoc Committee consists of members from both school councils, Grade 5 students, staff and school administration from both school communities, as well as an ADSB superintendent, two trustees and community members.
The Ad Hoc Committee would like to begin the process with the survey below. This feedback will provide direction and focus for further planning.
Please provide your feedback by circling the boxes you feel the Ad Hoc Committee should consider.
