Recreation Committee 2018 Year End Report

LAIRD TOWNSHIP RECREATION COMMITTEE 2018 YEAR END REPORT

The Laird Township Recreation Committee coordinates community recreation activities for the residents of Laird Township.

The following is a list of the 2018 activities and programs hosted/sponsored in full or in part:

  • Three, week long Summer Camps for kids (co-hosted by Macdonald Twp.)
  • Santa’s Mailbox was placed at the Laird Township Office for area children to mail their letters to Santa
  • Christmas Coloring Contest
  • A donation was made to Echo Bay School and CASS to assist with their Skating Program costs.
  • A donation to North Shore Agricultural Society for children events during the fair.
  • Christmas Light Tour co-host with Macdonald Twp.
  • Seniors BBQ was held in the Spring
  • Seniors Exercise Class at Laird Hall
  • Monday Night Boy Scouts
  • Support of North Channel Waterfront Cycling Trail
  • Canine Good Neighbour Training

Some changes took place to our local recreation facilities and are as follows: Laird Hall

  • New Microwave

Pumpkin Point Park

  • Sand for Playground Area and Beach
  1. G. W. Evoy Rink
  • Gravel for base of rink

Bar River Hall

  • Gravel for extra parking next to church

LAIRD TOWNSHIP REALLY APPRECIATES VOLUNTEERS. WITHOUT THEM OUR PROGRAMS WOULD NOT RUN. SO MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO VOLUNTEERED OR ASSISTED WITH THESE ACTIVITIES AND AT OUR RECREATION FACILITIES.
