LAIRD TOWNSHIP RECREATION COMMITTEE 2021 YEAR END REPORT

The Laird Township Recreation Committee coordinates community recreation activities for the residents of Laird Township.

The following is a list of the 2021 activities and programs hosted/sponsored in full or in part:

  • Snow Sculpture and Snowman Building Contest
  • Photo Contest
  • Valentine Crafts & Activities, Fishing Derby & Treasure Hunt (co-hosted with Macdonald Twp)
  • Earth Day BINGO with Colorado Blue Spruce seedling prizes
  • Four weeks of Kids Summer Camps & Baseball/Soccer Programs (co-hosted with Macdonald Twp.)
  • Canine Good Neighbour Training
  • Fall Pet Portraits
  • Santa’s Mailbox was placed at the Laird Township Office for area children to mail their letters to Santa
  • Christmas Coloring Contest
  • Collection for Christmas Cheer Baskets
  • Holiday Goodie Bags
  • A donation of prizes to winners of the Holiday Scavenger Hunt.
  • Holiday Light Contest
  • Seniors Exercise Class at Laird Hall
  • Monday Night Boy Scouts
  • Support of North Channel Waterfront Cycling Trail

Some changes took place to our local recreation facilities and are as follows:

  • New Caretaker Finns’ Bay Road Wharf
  • Dead Tree Removal

  • New Railing
  • Trillium Grant Funding Improvement
  • New Caretaker

LAIRD TOWNSHIP REALLY APPRECIATES VOLUNTEERS. WITHOUT THEM OUR PROGRAMS WOULD NOT RUN. SO MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO VOLUNTEERED OR ASSISTED WITH THESE ACTIVITIES AND AT OUR RECREATION FACILITIES.

SKATING: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Evenings 7pm – 10 pm Saturday and Sunday Afternoons 1 pm – 4pm

HOCKEY: Monday, Wednesday and Friday Evenings 7 pm – 10 pm (Shinny)

2022 Snow Sculpture & Snowman Building Contests

Laird Recreation Committee is having a Snow Sculpture and a Snowman building contest! The committee is encouraging all Laird Residents to get outside and be creative. A lot of us have been stuck at home during these unprecedented times and we want to encourage creative family time!

CONTEST DETAILS

  1. 1) Families Build a Snow Sculpture and/or Kids Build a Snowman
  2. 2) Take a picture of your Snow Sculpture or Snowman creation
  3. 3) E-mail picture to info@lairdtownship.ca with the Subject Line: Snow Contest and include the following details: Name, Address, Phone number, and Age of child for Kids Snowman Contest.

CONTEST CLOSES March 06, 2022

You will be contacted by e-mail if you won a prize!
