Recreation Committee Minutes – August 29, 2023

MINUTES OF THE LAIRD RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2023

MEMBERS PRESENT: Donna Bos Matt Frolick Rhonda Crozier Jo-Anne Entwistle Brenda Aelick

The meeting was called to order by Matt Frolick, Chairperson.

ON MOTION (No. R31-23) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Jo-Anne Entwistle “That the committee approves the Main Recreation Committee Agenda of August 29, 2023” CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. R32-23) Moved by Donna Bos seconded by Jo-Anne Entwistle “That the committee approves the Main Recreation Committee Minutes of June 27, 2023 with the change of wording “Five Year Plan completed to Five Year Plan in the works.” CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. R33-23) Moved by Brenda Aelick seconded by Jo-Anne Entwistle “That the committee approves the Laird Fairgrounds Committee Minutes of August 8, 2023 as presented.” CARRIED

Committee Reports:

1. 1. Bar River Hall: No report from the project manager.
2. 2. Laird Hall: The committee will be selling coffee and muffins during the Sylvan Circle tour.

A contractor has been hired to repair the crawlspace and wheelchair washroom. A new vacuum was purchased for the hall.

1. 3. Laird Fairgrounds: The minutes were reviewed.

Storage list underway. The fair had a larger tracker on the arena. During the fair an oil leak appeared on the new concrete. The old riding lawnmower is out of order for good.

1. 4. Finns Bay Wharf: Picnic tables and Gazebo are in place.

Garbage/Recycle can on order. Next meeting Sept. 19 ,2023.

1. 5. Heritage Committee: Staff reported that the summer student did a wonderful job at their end.

ON MOTION (No. R34-23) Moved by Brenda Aelick seconded by Donna Bos “That the committee approves the accounts for the month of June 2023 in the amount of $23,289.84” CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. R35-23) Moved by Brenda Aelick seconded by Donna Bos “That the committee approves of Business Solutions providing services as outlined at Pumpkin Fest this year for $100.00 plus taxes in total.” CARRIED

It was the consensus of the committee to request the secretary provide a draft of 2023 expenses until the end of June at our next meeting.

The secretary reported that the Summer Employees have completed their positions now.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday September 26, 2023 at 7:00p.m. at the Laird

Township
