MINUTES OF THE LAIRD RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE BAR RIVER HALL ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2021

The meeting was called to order by Suzanne Evoy, Chairperson.
ON MOTION (No. R39-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That the minutes of Oct. 26, 2021 be adopted, as circulated.” CARRIED
Committee Reports:
- 1. G. W. Evoy Rink
- repairs for the grant are being completed
- furnace was serviced
ON MOTION (No. R40-21) Moved by Brenda Aelick, seconded by Kathy Sutherland “That recreation approves the minutes for the G. W. Evoy Rink Committee dated Nov. 20, 2021 and the increase in the hall rental rates.” CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. R41-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That recreation approves of hiring Teegan Lapish as caretaker this season.” CARRIED

- generator is serviced
- two large coffee makers are missing
- 3. Bar River Hall
- caretaker duties were discussed
ON MOTION (No. R42-21) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Shawn Evoy “That recreation approves the minutes for the Bar River Hall Committee dated Nov. 23, 2021 and accepts the request from Ana Rawn for a free rental Dec. 20/21 to collect toys and food for the food bank.” CARRIED

- roof blew off the Announcer’s Booth
Business Arising out of the Minutes:
ON MOTION (No. R43-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Brenda Aelick “That recreation approves the accounts for October 2021 in the amount of $3726.48.” CARRIED
No decision yet on Community Revitalization Fund FEDNOR ($500,000) for the Bar River Hall but contact said it is not looking favourable. Should hear by year end.
Benda Aelick communicated some ideas on future events, activities and programs to run.
The committee discussed the insurance for Facility User Coverage.
ON MOTION (No. R44-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That recreation discontinue suppling Facility User Coverage for renters for 2022.” CARRIED
The committee discussed plans for the Christmas Season Activities.
ON MOTION (No. R45-21) Moved by Brenda Aelick, seconded by Shawn Evoy “That recreation committee gift $200, $100 and $50 to the first, second and third placements in the Holiday Home Decorating Contest and donate 2 $75 gift cards as prizes for the Holiday Scavenger Hunt.” CARRIED
The committee discussed sponsoring a draw for SIX Goodie Bags this year for residents that live alone and have little family support. Action: Kathy Sutherland
The committee reviewed the Season’s Greetings newsletter.
ON MOTION (No. R 46-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That the committee is in favour of mailing out the Season’s Greetings newsletter to area residents.” CARRIED
ON MOTION (No. R 47-21) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Brenda Aelick “That the committee donate two turkeys to the Outreach Program this year and that the committee purchase $5 gift cards for participants in the colouring contest.” CARRIED Action: Kathy Sutherland and the secretary
The next meeting will be held Tuesday Dec. 21, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Laird Township Hall.
ON MOTION (No. R 48-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy “That the Dec. 2, 2021 meeting be adjourned.” CARRIED
