MINUTES OF THE LAIRD RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2022

The meeting was called to order by Shawn Evoy, Chairperson.

ON MOTION (No. R38-22) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Brenda Aelick “That the minutes of November 29, 2022 be adopted, as circulated.” CARRIED

Committee Reports:

  1. 1. Bar River Hall
  • Christmas Dance was well attended and the Grinch showed up
  • the hall can be booked until April 1/23
  1. 2. G. W. Evoy Rink
  • a section of the boards which was blown over was repaired
  • Teagan Lapish is the caretaker again this season.

ON MOTION (No. R39-22) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Kathy Sutherland “That the recreation committee is in favour of hiring Teagan Lapish again this season as the

ON MOTION (No. R39-22) Moved by Brenda Aelick, seconded by Donna Bos “That the recreation committee approve of the accounts for November 2022 in the amount of $2487.09” CARRIED

Business Arising out of the Minutes:

The Winter Carnival, to be held Saturday, February 3, 2023, at the G. W. Evoy Rink was discussed.

The township received 20 Santa Letters to pass on; 39 Colouring Contests; and requests for 9 Goodie Bags.

ON MOTION (No. R40-22) Moved by Brenda Aelick, seconded by Kathy Sutherland “That the recreation committee approve awarding a $5 gift card to the Colouring Contest winners and hand out 9 Goodie Bags.” CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. R41-22) Moved by Brenda Aelick, seconded by Donna Bos “That the recreation committee approve awarding $100 gift card to first place in the Outdoor Lighting Contest and $50 gift cards to second and third place.” CARRIED

The Committee and Sub-Committees are asked to start preparing the budgets for 2023.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Laird Township

Boardroom.
