Recreation Committee Minutes – December 21, 2021
MINUTES OF THE LAIRD RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE LAIRD HALL ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2021

The meeting was called to order by Matt Frolick, Chairperson.
ON MOTION (No. R49-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That the minutes of December 2, 2021 be adopted, as circulated.” CARRIED
Committee Reports:
- 1. G. W. Evoy Rink
- fire extinguisher needed
- purchased a new snowblower
- 2. Laird Hall
- new 100 cup coffee pot purchased
- fire extinguisher serviced
- 3. Bar River Hall
- sewage pump repairs
Business Arising out of the Minutes:
ON MOTION (No. R50-21) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Shawn Evoy “That recreation approves the accounts for November 2021 in the amount of $-12,617.84.” CARRIED
The secretary reported that council has passed a motion to support the application for the Bar River Hall to NOHFC Rural Enhancement Funding.
The committee discussed the plan for upcoming Events, Activities and Programs.
ON MOTION (No. R51-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Matt Frolick “That recreation support the Winter Carnival at the G. W. Evoy Rink in February and supports distributing giant pumpkin seeds this Spring to area residents.” CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. R52-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That recreation committee investigate places to groom snowshoe trails or ski trails along the shoreline or road allowance near the south west of the municipality.” CARRIED

Brenda Aelick reported the Santa’s Mailbox had 12 letters, the Home Decorating Contest had 3 entries, the Colouring Contests had 32 submissions and 6 Goodie Bags will be handed out.
Recreation we would like to thank area residents for their generosity with Outreach’s Christmas Cheer Basket donations.
ON MOTION (No. R53-21) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Brenda Aelick “That recreation approves the purchase and installation of three library mailbox stations around the township.” CARRIED

The next meeting will be held Tuesday Jan. 25, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Laird Township Hall.
ON MOTION (No. R 54-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy “That the Dec. 21, 2021 meeting be adjourned.” CARRIED
