Recreation Committee Minutes – October 26, 2021
MINUTES OF THE LAIRD RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE BAR RIVER HALL ON TUESDAY, OCT. 26, 2021
MEMBERS PRESENT: Donna Bos Shawn Evoy Jo-Anne Entwistle Rhonda Crozier Brenda Aelick Suzanne Evoy Matt Frolick

The meeting was called to order by Matt Frolick, Chairperson.
ON MOTION (No. R36-21) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Suzanne Evoy “That the minutes of Sept. 28, 2021 be adopted, as circulated.” CARRIED
Committee Reports:
- 1. G. W. Evoy Rink
- rink boards should arrive next Tuesday
- they will be installed shortly after they come in
- 2. Laird Hall
- floors are being polished
- furnace is being inspected
- 3. Bar River Hall
- will be investigating the well
- moving forward with septic repairs
- 4. Laird Fairgrounds
- vehicle storage is mostly completed
- water is shut off
ON MOTION (No. R37-21) Moved by Donna Bos, seconded by Suzanne Evoy “That recreation approves the accounts for September 2021 in the amount of $974.44.” CARRIED
Business Arising out of the Minutes:
Stage 2 of the application is submitted for Rural Enhancement Funding NOHFC ($200,000) for the Bar River Hall.
Stage 2 of the application is submitted to Community Revitalization Fund FEDNOR ($500,000) for the Bar River Hall.
The Fall Photos Event held at the Laird Fairgrounds went well. Approx. 10 dogs participated.
The committee discussed the insurance for Facility User Coverage and it will be discussed again at our next meeting.
New Business:
The secretary passed out a 2022 calendar and committee members are asked to record their events, activities and program ideas on it for next meeting.
The committee is in favour of hosting the same Christmas activities again this year but would also like to add decorating a Christmas tree as an activity.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday Nov. 30, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Laird Township Hall.
