Recreation Committee Minutes – September 26, 2023

MINUTES OF THE LAIRD RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE LAIRD TOWNSHIP OFFICE ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2023

MEMBERS PRESENT: Donna Bos Matt Frolick Suzanne Evoy Rhonda Crozier Jo-Anne Entwistle Brenda Aelick Noah Crozier Shawn Evoy

The meeting was called to order by Matt Frolick, Chairperson.

ON MOTION (No. R37-23) Moved by Brenda Aelick, seconded by Jo-Anne Entwistle “That the committee approves the Main Recreation Committee Agenda of September 26, 2023 as presented.” CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. R38-23) Moved by Suzanne Evoy seconded by Donna Bos “That the committee approves the Main Recreation Committee Minutes of August 29, 2023 as presented.” CARRIED

ON MOTION (No. R39-23) Moved by Jo-Anne Entwistle seconded by Suzanne Evoy “That the committee approves the Finns Bay Wharf Committee Minutes of September 19, 2023 as presented.” CARRIED

Committee Reports:

1. 1. Bar River Hall: Hall renovations will start in about two weeks.
2. 2. Laird Hall: The committee sold coffee and muffins during the Sylvan Circle tour and they sold out.

The wheelchair washroom is still unusable. Hall Committee will be running a floor curling event.

1. 3. Laird Fairgrounds: The Gazebo windows and doors will be installed soon.

The tractor was repaired by another mechanic and is running good now. There are some storage concerns for the concrete in the Gazebo

It was the consensus of the committee for a list to be compiled of the vehicles that are planned to be stored in the Gazebo and the cost revenue of such, provided to the Committee Chair and Mayor for next Tuesday.

1. 4. Finns Bay Wharf: Garbage/Recycle can is in place.

The five-year plan has been developed.

1. 5. Heritage Committee: The hall maybe holding Boy Scouts/Cubs artifacts that could be used in the museum.

The slab for the new museum should be steaked out.

ON MOTION (No. R40-23) Moved by Shawn Evoy, seconded by Donna Bos “That the committee approves the accounts for the month of July 2023 in the amount of $5933.18 and August 2023 in the amount of $1802.22.” CARRIED

The committee discussed the plans for the Pumpkin Fest.

ON MOTION (No. R41-23) Moved by Jo-Anne Entwistle seconded by Suzanne Evoy ‘That the committee approves of Brenda Aelick and Rhonda Crozier being the Event Coordinators for the Pumpkin Fest.” CARRIED

The committee reviewed the recreation Budget Balance until Aug. 31, 2023.

It was the consensus of the committee that the grounds caretaker and summer employee did a fantastic job this summer.

Jo-Anne Entwistle has completed the Food Handling Course – Thanks Jo-Anne.

Secretary reported that a Health & Safety Assessment Report was compiled and that the caretakers will be made aware and the issues in the report will be rectified.

The next meeting will be held Tuesday October 31, 2023 at 7:00p.m. at the Laird
