Employment Opportunity – Temporary Senior Machine Operator (1-Year Contract)

The Township of Laird is seeking a Temporary Senior Machine Operator for a 1-year contract. The primary responsibility of this position is to support road maintenance and construction activities, including the operation of municipal equipment such as a grader, backhoe, and plow truck. The position works under the direction of the Road Superintendent and may involve extended or on-call hours depending on operational needs.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Minimum three years of related experience, preferably in a municipal environment
• Knowledge and experience in road maintenance, construction, equipment maintenance and operation of equipment such as plow truck with wing and sander, grader, backhoe, steam jenny, and general shop tools
• Valid DZ Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract
• Chainsaw safety and operator certification
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Residency within or near the community is considered an asset

Salary commensurate with experience. OMERS enrollment is offered in accordance with plan rules. Eligibility for group benefits is based on hours worked and plan requirements.
