Thank you to ALL our volunteers!

Without you this event would not be possible.

This year’s GRAND Champion pumpkin weighing in at 105 pounds belonged to Vertus Tremblay.

Second place was the Boychuk Family entry weighing in at 87 pounds.

Third place was Lamming family entry weighing in at 78 pounds.

Hay wagon rides and lawnmower races both proved to be a huge hit again this year. THANK YOU Alf and Andy Roberts and Algoma Lawn Mower Racing Association. Our tractor parade continues to grow each year, thank you to all the drivers who came out. We would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL the volunteers and attendees. Through everyone’s generous donations toward the food bank we were able to make some less fortunate families lives a little brighter.

Laird Fairgrounds Committee SECOND ANNUAL SWAP MEET Laird Fairgrounds Committee hosted a fall motorsport swap meet at the Laird Fairgrounds on October 5, 2024.

Entry was by a food donation to go towards the Christmas Cheer campaign, or a cash fee that would be put towards Laird Fairgrounds improvements. Once again, the public came through raising cash and large number of food items.

Waste Disposal Site: Propane Tanks / Share Shed Guidelines

Propane tanks are NOT allowed at the waste disposal site or in the metal recycling bin. If you have old tanks to dispose of you can drop them off for free at the Pit Stop gas bar/JT Automotive in Echo Bay.

Share shed guidelines prohibit clothing and other fabric items such as stuffed animals. Please find other alternatives for your gently used clothing and fabric items.

Township Office Closure

Lest we forget

The Laird Township Office will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2024, in recognition of Remembrance Day.

The office will re-open on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 9 a.m.

Speed Limits and Dogs Running at Large

The Township office has received complaints about people speeding and concerns for the public safety of pedestrians walking and/or riding bikes on municipal roads. Adding to the dangers we have also received many complaints of dogs running at large in these same areas. It is against Municipal By-law 921-12 to allow Animals to run at large, and considerable fines could be assessed not to mention the danger to animals and humans alike.

Road safety is a priority, we all play a part in keeping our roads safe. Please abide by the speed limit, take caution when approaching pedestrians, and keep your pets safe by NOT allowing them to roam. You can report speeders and safety concerns to O.P.P. at 1-800-310-1122 Report dogs at large to the By-Law officer at (705) 992-6692 or the Township office at (705) 248-2395.

Animal abuse concerns should be directed to Animal Welfare 1-833-926-4625
