A Special Welcome to Our New Residents!

If you have recently moved to the area, welcome home! We are incredibly proud of our community and want to help you get settled in. Here is some important information to help you navigate your new township:

  • Road Safety is a Priority: The speed limit on all Laird Township roads is 60 km/hour. Please be a responsible and caring citizen—don’t speed, and help us keep our roads safe for everyone.

  • Waste Disposal & Recycling: The Laird Waste Disposal Site is open year-round on Wednesdays (3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and Saturdays (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Please note that used propane tanks, hazardous materials, and biomedical wastes are not accepted. When using the recycling bins, we kindly ask that everyone breaks down all cardboard boxes to save space, prevent contamination, and keep costs down for taxpayers.

  • Library Boxes (Take a Book / Leave a Book): We encourage you to visit our three community library boxes located at the Laird Township Hall (Pumpkin Point Road), the mailboxes at Neebish Road/Finns’ Bay Road, and Bar River Hall (Lapish Road).

  • Emergency Preparedness: We encourage all new households to review the Laird Emergency Plan available on our website to understand local risks, build an emergency kit, and create a household action plan.

  • Senior & Disability Services: The Trefry Centre provides wonderful services and regular programming (such as weekly exercise classes) for seniors and persons with disabilities within Laird Township.
